PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Moorabbin Primary School Community touch the land and think of the Bunurong People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation who cared for the land before us.

We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging.  As we touch this land, we promise to treasure it, taking care of all its people, animals, plants and waterways. We at Moorabbin Primary School appreciate this land. Thank you.

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the term concludes and we reach the end of the first semester, it is once again an opportunity to reflect on our students' growth and to thank our wonderful staff and supportive school community. A big thank-you to the many parents who have engaged with our school helping in classrooms, attending excursions, assisting at our sporting carnivals, attending our Year 5-6 camp, being part of the school council, organising and or participating in school events such as parent functions, mother’s day luncheon, music presentations at assembly and the fantastic and engaging open mornings, parent workshops as well as many other events held this term.

Thank You to our Teachers!

As you may know, all schools still face casual replacement teachers (CRTs) shortages. Our school is also experiencing some of the challenges and shortages faced by other schools, the wonderful culture, and dedicated staff, we have at our school, are helping to lessen these issues.

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and express my heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated teachers, they always go “above and beyond” to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education. It is their dedication and love for our school community that has enabled MPS to continue providing an enriching learning environment.

As we navigate the challenges of CRT’s, aide, and the teacher shortage, it is crucial that we, as a community, continue to support our teachers. Simple gestures of appreciation and kind words can have a big impact and this small acknowledgement can significantly brighten their day.

The achievements of our students for this semester?

Student reports were made available last Friday, and all teachers have been engaged in Parent/Teacher interviews this week.

When reading over the reports we hope that you have shared these points with your family and child:

  • celebrate your child’s achievements and focus on their strengths.
  • discuss areas in which they can improve and ask your child what they would like to be better at. Then brainstorm two or three practical actions that they can take to improve on the identified areas.
  • keep the ongoing conversation and partnership with the class teacher. If they don’t know that there may be an issue/ concern/ worry they won’t be able to help

Avoid the temptation to compare your child’s report to that of a friend or particularly to a sibling. Each child is different, and learning develops at different rates for all children. Our Children are unique and have different interests, experiences, and opportunities that determine their ability to learn, and the pace at which they learn also varies. If your child is genuinely trying their best, then as a parent, you cannot ask for more.

Thank you again for the ongoing support that you have provided your child and the teachers throughout this year. It is amazing what our students have been able to achieve! After reviewing the reports of many students, I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the learning growth they have all demonstrated.   Yet again, our teachers have been amazing this term and I have encouraged them to put away their laptops and enjoy the next two weeks. I’ve encouraged them to focus on themselves, their friends, and their families, and recharge themselves ready for term 3. I am incredibly proud of our School and what we have achieved together!

We know that both our students and teachers are getting tired, and everyone is looking forward to some quality time with friends and family and a very relaxing break. I hope that all our community enjoy the very well-deserved break. We look forward to everyone’s safe return for the start of term 3 on Monday 15th July. A reminder that I will be away on LSL for the first three weeks of term 3 and Mr Corrigan will be leading our school and its community.
