Move Well Skills program

Taking the Learning Outside

The Move Well Skills program has had a fantastic term despite occasional interruptions and weather challenges. This term, student leaders have shown exceptional dedication and should be commended for their efforts. Primary school students have embraced the opportunity to be active outdoors, guided by our capable Year 6 leaders. The program emphasises that learning extends beyond the confines of the classroom, providing valuable experiences for young leaders to develop crucial skills for their future.

Feedback from participants and observers has been overwhelmingly positive:

"I can see the Year 6 students growing each week."

"The Year 6 leaders are incredibly supportive and encouraging, ensuring all students are actively engaged."

These comments reflect the impactful leadership and inclusive approach demonstrated by our Year 6 students. As we look forward to Term 3, anticipation is high among all Year 6 students for more fun and learning ahead. The Move Well Skills program continues to enrich the school community, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a love for physical activity among students.

Primary RISE Fundraiser for the Homeless

The Primary RISE group organised a fundraiser to sell baked goods in order to raise money for a charity of their choice. A group of eight Year 4-6 students decided they wanted to raise money for the homeless in our community. So, they baked some treats to sell at recess in order to raise money to donate to the Hobart City Mission.

The students chose items to bake that they knew could be made with little expense and also make a lot of product. They spent two weeks during their Primary RISE class baking their products and packaging them to sell.

The Primary RISE students sold mini-ham and cheese quiche, chocolate fudge, and cookies during recess time. The items were packaged in small bags for people to buy one serving of their choice. The group sold over 200 bags, with a total of $218 being earned.

The students have worked with money and receipts to find out their expenses and profits; totalling the expenses, counting the coins and notes earned, and then finding their total profits. The Primary RISE group will be donating the total $218.00 earned during the bake sale to the Hobart City Mission to help the homeless in our community.

Thank you to everyone who supported the bake sale and purchased something from the table. We hope it was yummy!!
