End of Semester Student Reports

End of Semester Student Reports

At the end of this week, you will receive the end of Semester report. This provides an update on student achievement and engagement in each learning area and feedback from the class or home group teacher. I would especially encourage families to take note of the record of student engagement as attitudes to learning make significant contribution to ongoing achievement.

There are some important concepts to understand in order to interpret this scale.

  • A Competent result represents the standard of achievement typically expected of a student in the relevant year group up to this point in time. It means the student is able to demonstrate the core knowledge and skills established by the curriculum.
  • A Developing result indicates that the student is generally able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required but needs some extra guidance or support.
  • Experiencing difficulty indicates the student is not yet able to demonstrate the knowledge or skills set down by the curriculum. If this is the case, the teacher will be providing the student with adjustments or supports to help them make progress in their learning.
  • Thorough or Extensive grades indicate the student is able to apply the knowledge and skills to new situations or contexts. The difference between these gradings will be the level of sophistication demonstrated by the student as they have applied their learning.

Secondary students should especially consider the feedback alongside that they received throughout the semester. The information included in the report is a summary of ongoing student achievement across the semester. This can be found in Schoolbox. Parents can access the feedback through their child’s profile page.

Students can access feedback through the Feedback tab. This information can be filtered to focus on results from specific subjects.

If you or your child have any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to raise this with the College. For primary students, the first point of contact is the child’s class teacher. Teachers are happy to make a time to meet or speak over the phone.

Secondary Parent-Teacher interviews are scheduled for Wednesday, 24 July. At other times, parents are encouraged to contact either their child’s class teacher or Home Group teacher.
