APS Fair Thank You

FAIR FUN & RAFFLE WINNER!

Photos below!!!

What a fun day we had at the Fair!

The mile-wide grins and shrieks of laughter and fun all day long said it all. The sun was shining, the crowds were happy and the kids had an absolute ball!

While the final numbers take a little while to calculate, all indications are it was a hugely successful day as our main fundraising and community event for the school - we will update you as soon as we know more. Additional foot traffic from Election Day/Polling Station being located on school grounds also helped with an extra high community turn-out, which was great.

Huge thanks to the APS Fair Committee for organising a wonderful day, to the APS Teachers & Staff, to all the tireless work of the Stallholders & Volunteers who so graciously give their time in the lead up and on the day, we couldn't do it without you. And to our wonderful Sponsors who help make it possible:

Nelson Alexander,

Dentists of Alphington,

Four'N Twenty,

Yum Cha at Home,

Bakers Delight Fairfleld

Bendigo Bank - Community Bank Clifton Hill, a big thank you for their generosity.

To everyone who attended, we also want to say a big thank you for doing so well with the re-usable cups and different waste streams for our Sustainability efforts, and to acknowledge Village Greening for their help. We reduced our landfill waste considerably and it was great to see so many of you being conscious of your impact.

Our "Fair Physical Challenge" Raffle Winner is Julia Frances - please contact prep parent Mike from Northside Movement on 0421 278 267 to claim your prize :) and for everyone else, take a look at the Leaderboard which shows all the amazing efforts from the day!

We had two amazing photographers who managed to get some wonderful photos of the day. Thank you so much

Reduce Waste Team

Fair – Thank you for your help to reduce waste

Congratulations to everyone who supported our efforts to reduce waste at this year’s Fair.

At the Fair, we used over 600 re-usable cups. A big step toward reducing single-use waste. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy a hot drink in a cup and a special shout-out to the lemonade and snow cones stalls for leading the way with reusable cups!

It was fantastic to see everyone actively using our designated bins for cans, recycling, organics, and landfill. We also collected soft plastics from behind the stalls and separated glass at the bar. Additionally, it was great to see so many pre-loved clothes, books, and toys find new homes!

A Big Thank You to Village Greening!

Huge thanks to Village Greening, who not only provided many of the cups but also helped wash them throughout the day, from the election 8am start to the fair's 6pm finish.

Village Greening is passionate about promoting reusables in our community. As they put it:

“Reusables are the future. We especially love supporting schools and sporting groups because it’s so important that children grow up seeing reusables as normal. It’s not about pushing a message, it’s about creating lasting memories. It’s more than just reducing waste; it’s about education and leading by example.”

Their message is clear: only around 15% of plastic is actually recycled and neither plastic nor paper is infinitely recyclable. Compostable cups might sound better, but most don’t make it to a compost facility and won’t break down in landfill, instead, they release methane.

Want to go reusable at your next event? You can borrow Village Greening’s keep cup library and signage, or just reach out for advice by emailing villagegreeningfairfield@gmail.com.
