THE VILLAGE

The Village: Supporting Student Wellbeing Together

At Korumburra Secondary College, we believe in the value of community and its power in supporting the health and wellbeing of our young people. The Village is here to support that journey. This section provides evidence-based resources that align with our school’s wellbeing strategy, offering practical tools for students, families, and staff. From mental health support to fostering resilience and positive relationships, The Village is designed to empower our community with knowledge and strategies to help every student thrive.

In this edition, we’re excited to shine a light on the positive and enthusiastic start our Year 7s have made to their time at the College — a reminder of how belonging, connection, and opportunity help shape wellbeing and success. The previous editions of this section have the evidence based discussions around how our students can achieve success through school.

What Year 7s Are Loving

Recently, we asked some of our Year 7s what has helped them feel positive and connected during their first months at KSC. Here’s what they shared:

🎨 Gracey has loved making new friends and enjoys the creativity of art classes, where she can express herself and relax.

🎶 Ruby finds joy in music classes, where she’s able to explore her love of all things music.

🏃 Noi appreciates the chance to take part in interschool sport, meeting new people and feeling part of a team beyond the classroom.

🍽️ Jack is pleased with the improved canteen options and the bigger yard, which gives everyone more space to play and unwind at break times.

👩‍🏫 Flynn has enjoyed getting to know a variety of teachers, each bringing their own style and helping him adjust to high school life.

🤝 Mason values the friendships he’s made with students from different primary schools, broadening his circle and building new connections.

We have really enjoyed watching our Year 7s make such a positive and enthusiastic start to their time at the College. Their energy and openness are a wonderful reminder of the strength of our school community.
