SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

Our recent ANZAC Day Assembly was a powerful reflection of our students’ respect and maturity. They stood in silence, listened intently to our guest speakers, and honoured the ANZAC spirit. I spoke about how our school values align with the courage, resilience, and mateship shown by the ANZACs—values we aim to carry throughout our school lives and beyond. A big thank you to our School Captains, who led the Assembly and proudly represented the College at multiple ANZAC services in Korumburra and Melbourne.

It was also wonderful to see such a great turnout at our Year 7 Information Night. Our student speakers, including our Captains, shared their experiences with confidence and pride—both live and on video. It’s clear that student voice and school pride are growing at KSC, which is fantastic to see.

On Monday, we are holding our Student 360 mentor meetings. The purpose of these 20-minute sessions is to strengthen the learning and wellbeing supports for students through having an advocate at school who knows the student well and who can help them to set achievable goals each term and strive to reach them. We know it’s close to parent-teacher interviews. We ran them like this last year and found that the flow of information from parent-teacher interviews supported the Student 360 meetings. We will continue to review our scheduling, especially with public holiday disruptions in mind. Thank you to families who have provided feedback—your respectful communication helps us to improve in providing optimal experiences for our students and families.

A reminder that Wednesday 14 May is a pupil-free day as our staff take part in a whole-school Professional Learning Day. Our teachers and Education Support (ES) staff will be working together on Positive Classroom Management strategies. These tools are designed to help create more consistent, engaging, and productive learning environments, ultimately increasing the quality of instructional time in every classroom.

We thank families for their understanding. Taking time for professional learning is essential in helping us continuously improve and deliver the best possible education for every student at KSC.
