Year 5/6 Camp

Year 5/6 students and staff had an amazing experience at the Golden Valleys Adventure Camp.
Below are some students' recounts about the camp.
Last week, we went to Golden Valleys for three days. When we arrived at the camp, we had to carry our suitcases to the barn, where we received an introduction from the staff. After the introduction, we went to our cabins. We did a variety of activities, and my favourite ones were the Giant Swing and the Leap of Faith.
On the Giant Swing, your group pulls you up really high. The staff unhooks the person from the rope that your group pulls on, and the drop is really scary. It starts with being lifted up, then you’re dropped down and swing back and forth. You can do anything you want, like scream, shout, or pose. The Giant Swing is on a hill, so when you swing forward, it feels like you're falling down a steep hill.
The Leap of Faith is a bit different. You are put into a harness and need to climb up to the platform. It’s one of the hardest challenges, but if you do it, you can do the other activities. Once you’re on the platform, you jump off and fall, but don’t worry—you’re safe.
We also did hut building, and my friend kept stealing from someone else’s build, which made them really mad. We also did the Vertical Challenge, Archery, and the Obstacle Course. In our free time, we did a night walk, roasted marshmallows, and sang songs by the campfire. On the second night, we had a talent show. Camp was so much fun, and I want to go again!

The year 5/6 students went to Golden Valley camp in Flinders last week for three days! When we first arrived, we went to our cabins and started unpacking, getting comfortable before heading to the barn. There, we were introduced to the camp staff and the different activities. Afterward, we were assigned to our activity groups and went to our first activity! We did a few more activities before getting ready for our night activities.
For our night activities, we took a night walk around the camp before stopping at a cliff. We sat in silence for two minutes, admiring the stars in the night sky and listening to the singing from the campfire.
At the campfire, we sang a few songs and roasted marshmallows! Unfortunately, my marshmallow fell off my stick. There was lots of laughter when we sang, and we sang really loudly! We hoped the other group could hear us singing because we could hear them. The next night, we had the talent show, where different cabins performed their talents. My group performed the 'Cup-Song'! Although we didn’t win, it was still a lot of fun.
