Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s been a fantastic few weeks at Kismet Park, filled with opportunities for connection, celebration, and student achievement—a great way to start the term. Here are some key highlights and upcoming events:

💐 Mother’s Day Celebrations 💐

We marked Mother’s Day with a beautiful stall on Monday followed by our special ‘Muffins with Mums’ breakfast and open classrooms. It was heartwarming to see our families enjoying this time together, a celebration filled with love, laughter, and connection. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a memorable occasion.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing PCA team and parent volunteers who helped bring both the stall and breakfast to life:

Louise Cashen, Felicity Dobson, Emily Gale, Kylie Smith, Liz Newton, Chelsea Giannino, Ryan Underwood, David Newton, Adele Gibbs, Rebecca Clarke, Jess Plose, Kylie Hodor, Damian Hodor, Samantha Potter, Naomi Elfverson, Allan Smith, Alisha Hinds, Katherine Thorn, Briony van Berlo, and Antoinette Buchholz.

🏃‍♂️ District Cross Country 🏃‍♂️

Today I had the pleasure of attending the District Cross Country at John McMahon Reserve, where students who were successful at our school cross country event proudly represented Kismet Park. It was fantastic to see so many families lining the course, cheering on our runners. The grit, determination, and encouragement on display was inspiring. Our students truly gave their all and should be very proud of their efforts.

👉 Keep an eye out for some great photos from the day on SeeSaw and our social media channels!

🛍️ PCA Easter Raffle 🛍️

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to and purchased tickets in the PCA Easter Raffle. Your generous donations made it a great success, helping to raise funds for our school and bring some Easter cheer to our community.

📘 Prep 2025 Information Sessions 📘

We held our first Prep 2025 Information Session this week, and it was wonderful to welcome new families and share what makes Kismet Park such a special place to start school. If you or someone you know has a child starting Prep next year, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming sessions:

-             Thursday 29th May at 2:30pm

-             Friday 6th June at 9:30am

These sessions include a ‘Day in the Life of Prep’ showcase and provide valuable insight into our learning programs, wellbeing support, and transition process.

📝 Trialling a New Prep Report Format 📝

This semester, our Prep team is trialling a new report format designed to strengthen parent engagement and provide more personalised insights into each child’s learning journey.

Families are invited to either submit three custom questions they’d like answered in their child’s Semester 1 report, or choose to use the following base questions:

1.          What is something my child has shown growth or improvement in this semester?

2.          How does my child contribute to the classroom environment?

3.          What is a goal or area of focus for my child moving forward?

This trial is part of our ongoing efforts to create more meaningful communication between school and home. We welcome your feedback on the process.

🏊‍♀️ Swimming Program Update 🏊‍♀️

Our Year 5/6 students completed their swimming program last week, and the feedback from the pool staff was amazing—they were impressed with our students' behaviour, attitude, and effort. We’re incredibly proud of how our students represented Kismet Park and gave their best throughout the program.

Year 3/4 swimming lessons begin Monday 19th May, and we look forward to seeing another fantastic display of effort and enthusiasm.

🧀 Cheer Toastie Truck 🧀

The ever-popular Cheer Toastie Truck is back! It will visit on Monday 19th May.

👉 Orders must be placed via QKR by Monday 12th May.

🤝 Sponsorship Opportunities 🤝

We’re excited to launch our new Sponsorship Packages—a fantastic way for local businesses to support our school community while gaining exposure through events, newsletters, and other promotions.

If you or someone you know owns a local business and would like to partner with us, please contact the school office to learn more.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Warm regards,

Sam Carlton
