Partnering for a Sustainable Future: Hampshire House joins forces with Cool Planet

Over the past few weeks our children at Hampshire House have been diving into the exciting world of sustainability, as we partnered with Cool Planet to engage in composting and recycling adventures! With the help of Mayuko, the children rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty, turning our food scraps and garden waste into nutrient rich soil for our garden, with the help of our worm farm friends. 

Our children were thrilled to learn all about nature’s little recyclers- worms! The children discovered how worms help break down organic matter and turn it into compost for your plants and flowers. Our children were taught about the fascinating world of the circular economy, which is a concept that encourages us to rethink the way we produce, consume, and dispose of resources. Instead of following a linear “take-make-dispose” model, the circular economy promotes a more sustainable approach where materials and resources are reused, repurposed, and recycled, creating a continuous cycle of value and reducing waste.

Engaging children in hands-on-learning and exploring not only sparks joy and inspires wonder of the natural world but encourages our children to include recycling and sustainability in their everyday routines. From sorting recyclables to creating

artwork from upcycled materials, each day is an opportunity for discovery and

by introducing the concept of the circular economy at a young age, we are nurturing a deep sense of environmental awareness and responsibility in our children. Through discussions, storytelling, and immersive experiences, we are helping them understand the importance of caring for our planet and making sustainable choices in their daily lives.

Cool Planet provided each of our classrooms with new recycling bins and together 

we sorted, separated, and recycled with enthusiasm! The children learned all about the importance of recycling and how we can help protect our environment by properly disposing of our recyclables. From paper and cardboard to glass and plastic, we are now sorting our materials and have reinforced the importance of recycling every day.
