The Resilience Project

Why The Resilience Project Is Good for Our Community?

At Whittlesea Primary School, we believe that well-being is a shared responsibility. We are proud to be part of The Resilience Project, a program that benefits our students and staff and strengthens our entire community.

The Resilience Project promotes the key principles of Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM). These simple yet powerful values help individuals manage their mental health, build stronger relationships, and approach life with greater optimism. When these values are taught in schools and practised in homes, their positive impact ripples far beyond the classroom.

A community that values gratitude sees the good in each day and acknowledges the efforts of others. A community fostering empathy is more connected, compassionate, and understanding, which is essential in today’s fast-paced and often disconnected world. When mindfulness becomes part of everyday life, people can better manage stress, focus on the present, and respond to challenges calmly and clearly.

Through The Resilience Project, our students learn these life skills at an early age. They’re encouraged to talk about emotions, support one another, and reflect on what really matters. As these habits grow, they influence the people around them—siblings, parents, extended family, and friends—creating a healthier and more supportive environment for everyone.

By promoting open conversations about mental health and encouraging daily practices that support wellbeing, The Resilience Project helps break down stigma and builds a more resilient, connected community. It reminds us that we are all in this together—and that small, everyday actions can make a big difference.

Together, as students, families, and staff, we are creating a culture of care, reflection, and support. We’re proud to be part of that community.

Have a wonderful weekend,
