Mother's Day Celebrations @ WPS

As we head into the middle of May, whilst the weather is chilly, our hearts are warm as we celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, 11th May. It’s a moment to pause and reflect on the extraordinary love, strength, and dedication of mothers and maternal figures in our lives. Mother’s Day is more than just cards, flowers, and breakfast in bed. It’s about honouring the women who raised our students, guided them, and continue to support them with unconditional love. Whether it's your Mum, Grandmother, Stepmother, or someone who has filled a motherly role in your life, this is the perfect time to express your gratitude.

A huge thank you to all the families who supported our Mother's Day Breakfast this morning. It was wonderful to hear the gymnasium filled with our families connecting, especially to all the Mums who had the time to sit with a cuppa and enjoy a muffin. We also hope that you liked our WPS flower. This is just a small token of our appreciation to say thank you for all that you do, each and every day.

How You Can Celebrate:

  • A small gift - thank you to all our families who supported the WPS Mothers' Day stall (we hope she loves it)
  • Send a heartfelt message or letter – Share your appreciation in your own words.
  • Plan a special day – Whether it’s a home-cooked meal, a family outing, or just spending time together, this is what matters most.
  • Honour her legacy – For those remembering a mother who has passed, light a candle, share stories, or do something that was special to her.

School Review -  1 Day to go!

We have now completed 3 of the 4 days of our review, and whilst this has been a very intense few days, I am now very much looking forward to all the outcomes, including the recommended actions, as we move into the next 4 years of the school's next Strategic Plan. The last day of the review, which is called the Panel day, involves the panel sharing a lot of their findings, which have been collated through many observations and interviews. This has included staff, students and parents.

Thank you to the parents who attended the parent forum; I understand that it is often not easy to find time in your day, so it is greatly appreciated for those parents who participated.  I would also like to acknowledge the students who participated in the student focus groups. Some students' insights are always a bit unpredictable, but needless to say, the one thing that we can always rely on is that they are always honest. What a fantastic quality to have.

Once the final day is completed and we have time to process our next steps, I will share this with our school community so we can all be on the journey of our next 4 years together.

F - 2 Assembly

Remember that we have an F-2 Assembly on Monday, 12th, at 9:00 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The Year 3 - 6 assembly will be held on Monday, 19th  May (also in the gymnasium). During Terms 2 and 3, the school assemblies will be in the gym. Any of our Whole School Assemblies will remain at the Upper Basketball Court.

Wishing everyone a lovely Mother's Day.

Regards

Kaylene
