Principal's Message

Wawa, Wominjika.

Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us. We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.

Education Week

We will be celebrating Education Week from Monday 12th May-Friday 16th May with a range of events including our Open Evening on Wednesday 14th May 5:00pm-7:00pm. Our theme this year, ‘Celebration of Cultures’, highlights the diversity of our school community. Come and visit our classrooms and celebrate all the wonderful learning at Old Orchard Primary.

Art Show

Heidi has been hard at work preparing for our upcoming Art Show, which will feature an impressive collection of student artwork. We invite you to come and explore the creativity and talent of our students during the Open Night next Wednesday, held in the C-Wing.

Scholastic Book Fair

We’re excited to announce that our annual Scholastic Book Fair will once again take place during Education Week in our library. A big thank you to Ruth and Jennifer for their time and effort in organising this much anticipated event.

Families and students are warmly invited to visit the Book Fair throughout the week (before and after school from Tuesday-Friday ) and during the Open Night on Wednesday 14th May—it's a wonderful opportunity to explore a great range of books and foster a love of reading.

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums and mum figures in our community. May your day be filled with love, joy, burnt toast and appreciation for all that you do. Our Mother’s Day Stall was a huge success on Tuesday. Thank you again to all our parent volunteers as well as Sheree and Fiona.

District Cross Country

We were fortunate to enjoy perfect weather for our runners on Monday 5th May at District Cross Country. Congratulations to all our students who competed on the day! A heartfelt thank you also goes to James, our incredible parent volunteers and dedicated staff who attended the event. We are truly grateful for the strong sense of community and teamwork that made the day such a success. Old Orchard Primary was placed 3rd overall and a special mention to Genevieve Tran 6MR who placed first in her age division.

Year 5 Camp

From all accounts, our Year 5 campers are having a brilliant time at Waratah Bay Camp. Students participated in a range of activities designed to test and challenge, promote teamwork, initiative and communication skills. Thank you to our Year 5 team, Lucy, Nick, Jenny and ES staff, Sonja and Mitchell as well as our parent volunteers, Tracey Arnott, David Williams, Teddy Hung and Jo Fernando.
