Visual Arts News

Hello Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed their break and are just as excited as we are to be getting back to visual arts in term 2. This term we will continue to explore the different elements of art to create some amazing masterpieces that we will be sending home mid year.
Grade Prep
Our prep artists are starting the term by exploring the element of texture. Creating beautifully textured moons and with some guidance drawing their very own cows. Fantastic effort preps!
Grade 1
Our Grade 1 artists have enjoyed creating self portraits inspired by Picasso. Students were asked to represent emotions in their self portraits and used a mixture of mediums. Including markers and watercolor paints to create their wonderful artworks.
Grade 2
Our Grade 2 artists have created some amazing self portraits thinking about the elements of line and shape. After discussing artists both past and present and the different ways in which they have created self portraits, students were asked to create a portrait to represent themselves and then to use their knowledge of pattern to create a background. They look amazing, well done Grade 2!
Grade 3
Our Grade 3 artists have called on their knowledge of the elements of art to create zentangles. Each zentangle is unique to each student and allows them to use their imagination while also providing a very calming art experience. Students really enjoyed this lesson and their artworks are great! Excellent work by our grade 3s.
Grade 4
In Grade 4, our artists have been using the elements of line, colour and shape to create beautiful landscapes made more interesting by also making them into zentangles. Zentangles are artworks where each section is filled with its own unique pattern, and we think our grade 4 students have done an amazing job!
Grade 5
Our grade 5 students are learning about complementary and analogous colours and using these to create some Erin Elsley inspired artworks. Students were able to choose a colour scheme to work with and created some really fantastic pieces. Well done!
Grade 6
Grade 6 students have used their knowledge of value, shape and colour to create some really beautiful fish artworks. Using techniques like blending to create some really amazing effects that make these artworks pop.
