Prep Team

Our Prep students have returned to Term 2 with fantastic attitudes and a real sense of enthusiasm! They are more organised, confident, and aware of school routines and expectations, which has made a big difference to their learning. It's been wonderful to see them approach new challenges with excitement and a willingness to give things a go.

This term, our Prep students have made incredible progress in literacy! They’ve been building on their phonics knowledge, learning new sounds, and becoming more confident in segmenting and blending sounds to read and write words. It’s been great to see them challenge themselves in reading with partners, working on their fluency, and even trying their hand at independently writing sentences. We’ve also been diving into some fantastic fairy tales and books about journeys, exploring adjectives, nouns, predictions and sequencing events.

Prep students have been having a blast this term in Mathematics! They’ve been exploring part-part-whole, breaking numbers into two parts to help with addition. They've had so much fun discovering all the different ways to make numbers up to 10, using fun activities like ducks in ponds and shooting hoops into basketball cups. The excitement didn’t stop there – they’ve also enjoyed playing a giant human version of snakes and ladders, learning to follow rules and directions of board games. This is helping them understand how patterns work, as they transfer their game knowledge into repeating patterns in Maths. The hands-on fun continued as they got creative with patterns, making bracelets and caterpillars, and challenging themselves with more complex patterns.

We also had an exciting incursion focused on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), which was all about building resilience and teamwork. The activities were designed to challenge them to communicate their ideas, work together and solve problems. It was fantastic to see the kids supporting each other, showing great teamwork, and being willing to give everything a go – even when faced with a challenge. The experience was not only fun, but also a great way for our students to develop important skills they can use both in and outside of the classroom.

We are incredibly proud of all the growth they’ve shown and can't wait to see all the amazing things they will continue to achieve as the term progresses!
