Parent Teacher Interviews – Don’t Forget to Book

It’s been fantastic to see so many families already booking in their Parent Teacher Interviews – thank you for your strong engagement and support! Just a reminder that interviews will take place on Tuesday 27 May and Wednesday 28 May, and provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress and social development with their classroom teacher.

Bookings can be made via the ‘Conferences’ section on Compass, under the ‘Community’ tab. Each meeting is scheduled for 15 minutes, with transition time built in for families with more than one child.

If you would like to meet with a specialist teacher, please email us at orchard.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au and let us know who you’d like to connect with. Specialist teachers will be available until 4:15pm on both days. If you have any questions or need support with bookings, don’t hesitate to call our office on 5947 9100.

Seussical™ Jr – Important Update & Day Schedule

We’re getting very excited for our school production of Seussical™ Jr, happening on Friday 27th June! Please note that ticket sales are not yet live – thank you for your continued patience. In the meantime, we want to ensure families are across the key details for the day.

The school day will run on a modified schedule from 11:15am to 8:00pm, with all students travelling by bus to Beaconhills College Berwick for both the full dress rehearsal and the evening performance.

To support a smooth and exciting experience for all students, there will be no pick-up from the venue between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, and supervision will be available at school before the late start for eligible families.

Dinner and bus transport will be included in a Compass event, and students will need to arrive in their rehearsal outfit. Structured breaks and wellbeing supports will be in place throughout the day.

Please refer to the full Compass post sent to all families for complete details, including transport, supervision, and important deadlines.

Thank you for your support as we prepare to bring this magical show to life!

Mother’s Day Breakfast & Stall – Thank You!

A heartfelt thank you to all the mums and special adults who joined us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast last week. It was absolutely wonderful to see the gym filled with smiling faces as families enjoyed a breakfast of pikelets together.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to our amazing Parents and Friends group for once again running an incredible Mother’s Day Stall. Our students loved choosing special gifts to take home, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your time, effort and creativity.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the important people in our lives so beautifully and we hope all of our mums and special adults were spoilt last Sunday.

Curriculum Day – Building Excellence in Writing Instruction

Today, all staff at OPPS participated in a rich day of professional learning as part of our ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes. Our Curriculum Day focused on strengthening our writing planning and teaching approaches across the school.

Teachers and Education Support (ES) staff worked collaboratively to build capacity and consistency in our instructional practices, ensuring every learner is supported to thrive as a writer. It was a valuable opportunity for deep reflection, shared learning, and planning for impact in every classroom.

We’re excited to continue this important work and see the growth it brings to our students’ writing.

Parent Information Session – Learning About Literacy: Fluency

Thank you to all the families who attended our second Parent Information Session in the Learning About Literacy series, with a focus on fluency and its importance in our English program.

It was wonderful to welcome parents into classrooms to observe students and teachers in action, followed by a session unpacking the evidence and intent behind our approach to fluency in reading. We’re grateful for your ongoing engagement and partnership in your child’s learning journey.

Don’t forget! Our third and final session, focusing on comprehension, will take place on Wednesday 4th June. We look forward to seeing you there.
