Growing & Learning in Kinder
What our Kinder Students have been Exploring, Enjoying and Learning
Recently, K3 Rosella and Bluebird groups participated in an incursion with Wiggerly Worm Dance Company.
The children were led through an interactive session that used dance, music, dress ups and props to engage in movement, dancing and imaginary play. Children explored lots of concepts like colour, shape, counting, moving to the beat, starting and stopping, waiting and turn taking.
The children danced, listened to stories, acted out stories, dressed up and pretended. Children were fully engaged for the whole hour and a half and we didn't want it to end.
We love to see experiences like this build the children's confidence, allow them to get lost in the music and story telling and just delight in new experiences together.

The Drama Toolbox: Body Investigators
This is a fun and immersive science incursion on human body systems that was a huge HIT with both K4 groups in Week 7 this term. The incursion naturally extends on the Koalas group current investigation of bones and skeletons, as well as both groups' learning on body parts and Mat Man.
The children were assigned roles as FBI (Full Body investigator) agents who went exploring inside the unhealthy then healthier body of a boy. Children could choose to dress up as neurons, red/white blood cells, oxygen molecules, and stomach enzymes to role play different body systems—exploring the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems to see how they work together.
Through drama, music, dance, dress-ups and storytelling, the children have learnt about the interconnectedness of body systems - that brain cells send messages to make our bodies do things, our lungs take in oxygen, our heart has red blood cells that move the oxygen from the lungs around the body, our white blood cells fight off viruses, and the stomach muscles mush up the food so it can move around the body.
What a wonderful way to learn about how our bodies work and the importance of keeping healthy habits of adequate sleep, regular exercise and healthy eating so our body can function better to keep germs away and stop us from getting sick through hands-on learning and drama-based exploration!
