French teachers : Poetry competition Term 2

Please consider this next week when you plan your Term.

This year’s theme is  "des ponts entre nous

Please find here the poems for 2026.

In F/Y1 and Y2 only one poem per year level.

From Y3, students can choose their favourite poem between the 2 allocated to their year level.

Here is the timeline:

-T1, W9/10 present the poems, make sure the students understand them, work on the vocabulary.

-T2, W1 to 6: students learn their poem by heart with and without your help.

Please find the recordings of the poems here. I recommand to upload them on seesaw along with the text to help students memorise.

You can also allocate time in class to practice the poem.

When you teach the best practices for recitation, use this rubric

You will use the same rubric to assess your students (you can use this task as a portfolio task for French for Term 2)

The students can make a drawing to illustrate their poem. Especially the students who signed up for the Alliance Française competition (Y3 to 6). It must be on an A4 piece of paper.

-In Week 7: 1st to 5th of June: competition in class: All students recite the poem and a one finalist per class is chosen.

Teachers record the finalist and upload the video here (deadline june 12th). Name the video with this format: classePrénomNom: 4APrénomNom

For the recording, students hold a whiteboard with their name and class at the beginning of the video and can drop it to make gestures if they want to.

Remind students to say the tittle and the name of the author.

At the assembly  on 22/06/26, winners are announced and get their trophy.

Y3 to 6: In Week 10, Please encourage students to sign up to the Berthe Mouchette competition. Considering they are already learning a poem , they can use the same poem for the competition and win some prizes!! Enrolments close on the 1st of April so it is a quick turn a.

French Readers

In our French sub-school day, we talked about readers and looked at ordering new ones. Could French teachers fill in the following survey, as a team, before the end of week 9 so we can discuss this in our Monday meeting on Monday Week 10?
