Mayor Visit

Students had an exciting opportunity to meet the local Mayor of Frankston, Sue Baker, this week to further deepening their understanding of the three levels of government. Building on their learning, students explored how local government operates and discovered the important role the city council plays in making decisions that impact their community. They demonstrated great curiosity by asking thoughtful and insightful questions, showing a growing awareness of how they can make a difference at a local level. A highlight of the visit was seeing the Mayor’s ceremonial chain up close, which sparked interest and discussion about the traditions and responsibilities of civic leadership.

Education in Faith - By Daniel

In Ed in Faith we have been learning about the Common Good and Human Dignity, which are a part of our Catholic Social Teachings. We have also been understanding how these things relate to refugees and immigrants, and how they feel. For example, Human Dignity is about everyone getting what they need and being respected and valued, and some refugees might come to Australia because they aren’t getting basic needs or being valued or respected where they currently live!

Literacy - By Braiden

My favourite part of the War Horse book was, chapter sixteen to seventeen because that part of the book taught me that not all people wanted to fight nor kill and, it was a very big part of the story. As two people stepped foot into no man's land, they made conversation, even though they were on opposite sides. Lastly, it made me very fascinated about the story, making me very curious about the war too!

We have also started to do our big writes, I wrote about a bird named Lalen, which tried to find food, but then was stung by bees trying to find his home. Darting back and then hiding, Lalen got really hurt then he went to his nest. Weeks later, he went back to taking care of the baby humming-birds. The moral of this story was thinking before you do something because you might get hurt or get in trouble.

Family/Welcome Picnic - Mr. Will

Yesterday evening, we enjoyed a wonderful Family Welcome Picnic with students, families, and staff. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces and to come together as a school community.

We are incredibly fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and connected community, where everyone feels comfortable to engage and belong. The bake sale was a great success, and the turban wrapping and shared meal beautifully highlighted the rich diversity within our school. These moments truly reflect the inclusive and faith-filled nature of our Catholic community.
