Class Information
What an incredible first term we’ve enjoyed! The Year 5 students have demonstrated exceptional dedication towards their Buddies, making sure the newest members of our St Liborius community feel well supported. Our Year 6 students have been equally as dedicated to their unique Leadership roles, undertaking many new responsibilities with great purpose and participation.
This term students have enjoyed learning about the History of Australia during the 1800s. The topic has generated great interest and discussion about life in free and penal settlements, as well as the Industrial Revolution.
Students are currently working on individual projects with a more specific focus upon Bendigo. They have researched one of the following three topics
Chinese history in Bendigo
Students are creating posters/ booklets with information sourced on their chosen topic which will be sent home at the end of the term. Many students have shown particular interest in our rich Gold history and have been spending much time fossicking for interesting rocks and then bringing these into school to share. It is wonderful to see the children taking knowledge they have learnt at school and sharing this at home.
The Community Engagement students enjoyed a visit to Benetas Aged Care last week where they spent some time with the residents. Upon their return the students were so excited about their visit and thought it would be a nice gesture to make Easter cards for the lovely people they spent time with. What a wonderful group of young leaders.
The year 5,6 students enjoyed some educational treats today for Skittle Maths! They made comparisons between line graphs and column graphs and how the data we use for these two representations differs. Yum!

On Thursday the 2nd of April students will enjoy the last official day of the term. Each of the Year 6 leadership groups have organised activities that will run on the day. The Year 6 leaders have come up with incredible ideas to support our theme of Unite against Poverty. The students have generously given up some of their time during breaks to ensure activities and presentations are ready for the younger students on Thursday.
Just a reminder that you were emailed this week regarding registering for the Marist and CMC visits. Please refer to this email to ensure your child is registered for their school transition visits and start to follow their enrolment procedures for a smooth transition into Secondary Schooling for our Year 6 students in 2027.
We return to school on Tuesday the 21st of April. It is a Winter uniform term so please ensure you have prepared for the new uniforms before we come back. Students have a period of 2 weeks to be in full winter uniform, so by Week 3 of Term 2 students are expected to be in the correct attire.
