Foundation

It is hard to believe that the Foundation students have completed one term already. We have enjoyed seeing the growth with the students' independence and their routines. We look forward to seeing the students return at the beginning of term two and hope that you all have a safe and relaxing holiday.  

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

At the end of this week, your child will bring home their holiday homework in their reader bags. We ask that during the school holidays, you work with your child to practice the letter sounds as well as sounding out and reading the words. You may also like to help your child to write the letter sounds and words. We appreciate your support in helping your child practice these skills over the break.  

PUPIL OF THE WEEK

Each week, all Foundation classes will celebrate one student from each class who is their Pupil of the Week. Congratulations to the following students:

LAST DAY OF TERM & FIRST DAY OF TERM 2 

Last day of Term 1 will be Thursday 2nd of April, with an early finish at 2:30pm.  Term 2 will commence on Tuesday the 21st of April. Monday 20th of April is a Pupil Free Day for all students.  

FOUNDATIONS LEARNING FOCUS

Literacy 

Students are learning about: 

• The letters and sounds ‘m’ ‘s’ ‘t’ ‘a’ ‘p’ ‘i’ 
• Reading and writing CVC words 
• Identifying words and letters 
• During writing, the students identify the ‘who’, ‘an action’ and the ‘joining words’ (and, because) in a sentence. 

Mathematics 

Students are learning about: 

• Read and write numbers 
• Count collections to ten.
