Matthew 21:1-11

Blessings on him who come in the name of the Lord!

In Sunday’s Gospel passage, Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem in a humble and peaceful way, riding on a donkey. As He arrives, a large crowd gathers to welcome Him. People spread their cloaks and palm branches on the road, cheering and praising God. They shout, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” recognising Jesus as a special leader sent by God.

This moment shows that Jesus is a king—but not a king of power or riches. Instead, He comes as a king of peace, love and service. The people are filled with excitement and hope as they welcome Him into their city.

For us at St Liborius, this Gospel reminds us to welcome Jesus into our own lives with joy. We are called to show kindness, humility and love to others, just as Jesus teaches us.

PALM SUNDAY PRAYER

Loving God,

As we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem with joy and praise,

we thank You for His love and humility.

Help us to welcome Jesus into our hearts each day,

not just with words, but with our actions.

Teach us to follow Him with kindness, courage, and faith,

even when the path is not easy.

As we begin this Holy Week,

guide us to reflect on Your great love for us

and to grow closer to You.

May we be people of peace,

sharing hope and love with everyone we meet.

Amen.

Project Compassion is an annual Lenten fundraiser and awareness appeal.

Annually, 1,700 schools and 1,200 parishes across Australia take part, with Caritas Australia calling on the community to Unite Against Poverty for Project Compassion.

We thank the St Liborius School community who continue to generously donate lose coin to fundraise and unite against poverty for project compassion.

Each classroom has a project compassion box on their prayer tables, and there is a larger box in the office foyer.  Any coin donations are greatly appreciated.
