Child Safety at Moama Anglican Grammar

As part of our ongoing commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students, our school continues to implement the NSW Child Safe Standards. This newsletter outlines what we are doing to meet Standard 7 (Staff Capability) and Standard 8 (Child Safe Physical and Online Environments).

On Wednesday evening, staff and parents had the opportunity to attend It Takes a Village: Raising Kids in a Digital World at Moama Bowling Club. This presentation highlighted practical strategies for helping young people navigate the online world safely—an important aspect of Standard 8. The session reinforced the shared responsibility we all have in supporting children to use technology in ways that promote wellbeing, respect and positive connections.

Together, through awareness and partnership, we strengthen our school’s commitment to safeguarding every child.

Standard 7: Staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children safe, through continual education and training.

Some of the ways we meet this standard are:

  • Child Safety Officers are identified to support staff when raising Child Safe concerns
  • Leaders provide ongoing education and training opportunities for all staff.
  • Training is targeted at equipping staff with the skills and knowledge to prevent and identify abuse, and to respond to complaints.
  • Child Safety Officer who regularly updates staff on Child Safe information and practises.
  • Training is regularly reviewed in responses to emerging best practises.
  • Child Safe awareness is promoted publicly at the school (via posters, diary activities, and Newsletters).
  • Child Safety Officers and other staff attend external conferences and/or information sessions on child safety.

Standard 8: Physical and online environments minimise the opportunity for abuse or other kinds of harm to occur.

Some of the ways we meet this standard are:

  • Students are provided with information about online safety and regularly encouraged to tell staff about negative experiences.
  • Child Safe policy identifies how our school will keep our students safe in physical and online environments.
  • Risk management plans identify risks to student safety in physical and online environments, and how these will be managed
  • Codes of Conduct set clear behavioural expectations and are publicly available on the school’s website.
  • Staff and parents/carers are provided information about risks in the online environment .
  • Leaders set expectations about behavioural standards for staff interacting with students in physical and online environments.
  • Risk assessments identify areas where adults have opportunities to interact with students unsupervised, including for one off events and overnight camps.

The NSW Child Safe Standards were developed to ensure schools not only meet their legal obligations but also actively place the safety and wellbeing of every student at the centre of all they do. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we view this responsibility as a core part of who we are, and we remain deeply committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for every student. If you have any questions regarding Child Safety at our school, please reach out to myself or a member of our Executive Team.

Kind regards,

2026 MAG Yearbook Cover Artwork Competition

This year, our Yearbook Cover Competition is running a little differently – we're not asking for a full cover design, just your best artwork! We’re looking for vibrant, eye-catching pieces to feature on the 2025 Yearbook cover, whether it’s something new or a favourite you’ve already created.

Entries are open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Artwork should be A4 size, in portrait orientation, and free of any writing or logos (we’ll add the school logo later). You can work digitally or on paper, and the more colour, the better! Be sure to write your name and year level on the back, and submit your artwork by Friday 19 September (Week 9, Term 3).
