MAG’s Springtime Concert: A Celebration of Secondary Music Talent

The annual Springtime Concert at MAG was an unforgettable showcase of our Secondary music students’ incredible talents. This much-loved event brought together over 35 music students across 33 different performances, featuring solo and ensemble pieces on piano, guitar, bass, violin, drums and voice.

The concert highlighted the remarkable skill and diversity of our musicians, including standout performances by the Drumline, Global Folk Ensemble, and Senior Choir. The evening was further enriched by inspiring guest performances from our dedicated Music Tutors, creating a vibrant celebration of music and community.

Bringing such a large and dynamic event together requires a huge team effort. There are so many thank yous to list for making this concert a success:

  • Mr Shane McGrath for your tireless live sound work throughout the entire day.
  • Our magnificent Music staff and tutors: Kevin Kiely, Chandra Hale, Georgina Bish, Margaret Monro, Kim Kneebone, Trent Eacott, Delena Gaffney, Tomoko Niwa, Josephine Colacino, Erin Heycox and Shane McGrath.
  • A special thank you to the MCs and Secondary Music Captains, Gabrielle McMaster and Zena Colacino.
  • Thanks to the Marshalls, Neave Dullard and Andrew Barber, for their support in keeping the event running smoothly.
  • Toby Chivers for expertly managing the lighting and projector throughout the concert.
  • Mrs Kirralee Westblade for organising the Year 7 and Year 8 cohorts to attend the matinee show, allowing younger students to experience the magic of live music.
  • Tanya Main for her creativity and support in designing posters and printing the concert programs.
  • The IT team for their excellent work in setting up the lighting and camera equipment.
  • A huge thanks to the Maintenance team for their effort in arranging chairs and preparing the stage area.
  • And of course, a big thank you to the students who performed and to all the audience members who attended on the night—your energy and support made the concert truly special.

The Springtime Concert is more than just a performance—it’s a celebration of dedication, collaboration, and the joy of music. Congratulations to all the students who performed and everyone who contributed to making this event such a wonderful success.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s concert and the incredible talent it will showcase!
