Wishing everyone a happy holiday period! I hope it's a relaxing time for all and you can get some reading in. I recently discovered a lovely little podcast of read-aloud stories that's perfect for car trips if you have kids in the back who you'd like to keep entertained without screens on the drive: Let's Read with Lyla and Dad.
Well done to the 81 students at St Mary's who completed the Premier's Reading Challenge this year. You are all being celebrated on the library door, and your certificates from the Premier will arrive in Term 4.
Year 2 had the highest percentage participation for their grade level and got to enjoy a reward of free time in library this week!
Check out the latest Kid Librarian displays!
This term Stage 2 students have been researching topics they brainstormed from books read last term. They have been challenged to pose questions about their topics that they don't know the answers to, and then try to find the answer to at least one of their questions in books in the library. Their answers were then presented to the class. While some students needed help with sourcing information online, the majority were able to utilise library books to find their answers!
Stage 3 students have been extending the Scratch skills they developed last term to build a game. Here are some examples of the games students have come up with:

The library has a long-established tradition of sending The Stroogle out on adventures with students who report back through a journal.
Last week the Stroogle was introduced to the Kindy students and Mason S was the luckiest (well, speediest) to get to the library at lunchtime to borrow!
