Secondary Humanity Excursions

Kryal Castle
This semester, the Year 8s have been learning about Medieval Europe and life in the Middle Ages in Humanities. On Tuesday 16 September, the students had the opportunity to explore the grounds of Kryal Castle and engage in a variety of activities to further develop their understanding of medieval lifestyle.
Throughout the morning, the Year 8s learnt various new skills such as archery, and sword work, and preparing for battle all in preparation for their re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings 1066. The classes battled against each other, playing the roles of Normandy and England leading up to what is known as one of the most significant battles of the Middle Ages.
The day was sweetened by a trip to the lolly shop and finished off with a large medieval dance number.

Year 7 Humanities Excursion
Last week (Thursday 11 September) the Year 7s went on a Humanities excursion to the Melbourne Museum (Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre) to deepen their understanding of First Nations Australia.
This term the students had been learning about the daily practices, belief systems and culture of First Nations peoples, especially the Kulin Nations. This day was an immersive and enjoyable experience where they were able to see many real-life artefacts bringing to life their learning for the term. They also had a great day creating memories enjoying the day in the sun, having lunch at Birrurang Marr and a play in the playground!
