Book Week in Early Years

On Monday 25 August, we kicked off Book Week by celebrating stories across Prep to Year 2! Our Early Years teachers visited classrooms to share stories and activities that brought books to life.
Mrs Nel read The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires, inspiring students to design their own “magnificent thing” while learning the value of perseverance.
Miss Antoniou shared Little Turtle and the Sea by Becky Davies, reminding students about the impact of pollution on sea life before creating colourful turtle crafts.
Mrs Rose read Jonty Gentoo by Julia Donaldson with Grade 1s and 2s, sparking conversations about kindness, followed by guided drawings and recount writing.
Prep students enjoyed Piers Finds His Voice by Zuza Vrbova, leading to discussions on shyness and inclusion. The students then completed activities such as sequencing events and sentence writing.
Mrs du Bruyn read Spiro by Anna McGregor, encouraging resilience and a growth mindset. The students then made their own craft spiders.
