WELLBEING & LEARNING DIVERSITY

R U OK? Day
While R U OK? Day was officially last week on Thursday, September 11, the most important message is that life's ups and downs happen every day. That's why we want to encourage everyone in our school community to feel confident enough to Ask R U OK? Any Day.
We all have people we care about friends, family, and colleagues and a simple question can make a huge difference. Research shows that people who are regularly asked "are you OK?" report a greater sense of well-being. The good news is that many of us are already doing this.
It's natural to feel a bit hesitant about starting these conversations. You might worry about what to say or how the other person will react. But the data is encouraging: nine out of ten Australians say they feel grateful, supported, and cared for when someone genuinely asks if they are okay.
Remember, you don't have to be an expert to make a difference. Showing someone you care can be the first step. Let's make every day an opportunity to check in with each other. Ask R U OK? Any day of the year because a conversation could change a life!
At Joseph’s the students were involved in a range of fun activities to help them understand and recognise the importance of checking in on each other and the benefits of opening up to chat to someone when we don’t feel OK.
There are multiple free resources available, such as posters, videos, activities and more on the R U OK? website: https://www.ruok.org.au/
