Dear Families,
A heartfelt thank you to all the dads, grandfathers, uncles, carers, and special father figures who joined us for our Father’s Day celebration at school. It was wonderful to see so many of you sharing laughter, stories, and special moments with the children.
Your presence made the event truly memorable, and it reminded us all of the important role you play in your child’s life and learning journey. Thank you for taking the time to be part of our school community—we are so grateful for your support.
We hope you enjoyed the celebration as much as we did, and we wish you a happy and love-filled Father’s Day!
Religious Education
In Religious Education, students have been learning how the Sacraments and the Holy Spirit give us fuel for our journey with God. They explored how Baptism, Reconciliation, and the Eucharist strengthen and guide us, much like fuel stops along the way, and reflected on how the Holy Spirit helps them make good choices. Students also learned how Jesus built His Church on the rock of faith, giving Peter the mission to begin the Church, and how that mission continues today through prayer, service, and community. They considered how they are part of this ongoing journey by living like Jesus in their own lives.
Integrated Learning
In integrated learning, we are focused on Health and Wellbeing, students have been learning how and when to ask for help, and how to show respect and include others. They identified trusted adults they can go to when they need support and practised using polite words to ask for help. Students also explored ways to support their friends when they need help. Alongside this, they discussed what respect looks like in the classroom and playground, and how to include others in games and group activities. These lessons are helping students build a stronger sense of empathy, community, and belonging.
English
We have started reading a new novel, Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. As we enjoy this classic story together, students are learning how authors make intentional choices with words and sentence structure to create meaning. Through our reading, they are identifying figurative language, expanding their vocabulary, and practising how to combine simple ideas into more complex sentences using conjunctions. These learning opportunities are helping students deepen their comprehension and grow as thoughtful, expressive writers.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been learning to tell the time using both analog and digital clocks. They are practising how to read and show o’clock, half past, and quarter past/to times, and are now extending their skills to reading time in five-minute and one-minute intervals. Through hands-on activities and classroom discussions, students are developing their understanding of the relationship between the hour and minute hands on analog clocks and how this links to digital time. These lessons are helping students build confidence and accuracy when telling time in real-life situations.
Social and Emotional Learning / RRRR
This week, students learned about consent, personal space, and body boundaries. They explored how asking for and giving permission helps everyone feel safe and respected, and that consent can change at any time. Students also discussed how consent should always be given freely, without pressure, fear, or tricks. Students also reflected on how family and cultural practices shape the way we show care and respect; for example, learning that it’s okay to say no to hugs or kisses with relatives if they don’t feel comfortable, and that there are many other ways to greet and connect respectfully.
AUSLAN
In Auslan, this week students are using their imagination to create and share short signed stories. They have been playing fun games using simple signed sentences like “I know” and “I remember,” helping them build confidence in communicating through Auslan.
Did you know we have an onsite before and after school program? They also offer school holiday programs for working families. Find out more here.
