Child Protection Week 2025

Every Child, in Every Community, Needs a Fair Go

 7 – 13th September 2025

At St Thomas the Apostle Primary school, we are proud to support National Child Protection Week 2025, a time to raise awareness about the importance of keeping children safe, supported, and connected.

This year's theme is:

“Every child, in every community, needs a fair go.” This reminds us that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of where they live or what challenges they face.

Why Child Protection Week Matters:

Child Protection Week is a chance for us all – families, educators, organisations, and communities – to reflect on how we can build safer environments for children. It’s about prevention, early support, and recognising the role we each play in protecting children from harm.

Our Commitment to Child Safety:

Here at St Thomas the Apostle Primary school, we are committed to:

🔹 Creating safe, inclusive environments for all children

🔹 Empowering children to speak up and be involved in decisions that affect them

🔹 Supporting families and caregivers with resources and education

🔹 Upholding the National Child Safe Standards

How We’re Getting Involved This Week:

  • All classes are reviewing our Child Friendly version of our Student Code of Conduct. This code of conduct document informs our students of the behavioural expectations for keeping themselves and others safe here at school.
  • Giving our students the opportunity to annually review the code of conduct provides them with the voice and agency they need to to be successful learners and members of the community.

What You Can Do at Home:

✅ Talk openly with your child about safety and their rights

✅ Encourage your child to speak up if something doesn’t feel right

✅ Be an active, attentive listener – your child’s voice matters

✅ Get involved in community events or discussions around child wellbeing

Let’s work together to make sure every child feels safe, supported, and heard.
