The Feast of the Archangels - Sts Michael, Gabriel and Raphael 29 September

On September 29, we celebrate the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, the three Archangels whose names appear in the Bible.

St Michael: His name means “who is like God”. He is the leader of all of the archangels and is in charge of protection, courage, strength, truth and integrity. Michael is often depicted as carrying a flaming sword to protect and safeguard humanity. He protects us from evil and fights against the devil.

St Gabriel: His name means “strength of God”. He is a messenger who delivered the good news of their impending births to Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, and Mary, mother of Jesus. Gabriel is one of the strongest of all of the archangels.

St Raphael: His name means “the healing power of God”. He is known as a healing spirit and guide. Raphael is the patron saint of travellers because of his help with Tobias and his travels in the Old Testament.

As this feast day is during the school holidays, we will celebrate with a prayer liturgy on Tuesday 7th October. The prayer liturgy will be held in The Hub commencing at 11.40 am. Parents and friends are most welcome to join us for the prayer liturgy.

St Francis of Assisi  and The Canticle of Creation

This year marks the 800th year anniversary of St Francis of Assisi’s famous poem, The Canticle of Creation. Our students have focused on the Catholic Social Teaching topic of Care for our Common Home which reflects the actions of St Francis and his love for the environment. The link below is taken from the MelbourneCatholic website and provides additional information of this beautiful poem https://melbournecatholic.org/news/st-francis-canticle-of-the-creatures-at-800-endures-as-vision-of-redeemed-creation

Pope Leo XIV's Prayer Intentions

September is dedicated to 'our relationship with all creation’.

Pope Leo XIV has asked the world to pray for love and respect of all creatures during the month of September.

Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray Pope Leo's Prayer Intention for the month of September. Maybe make an effort to sit amongst nature, pause, reflect and thank God for all of creation.  Thank you

For Our Relationship with All Of Creation

Let us pray that, inspired by Saint Francis,

we might experience our interdependence with all creatures who are loved by God and worthy of love and respect.

Amen
