Prayer
God of Rest and Peace,
We thank You for the gift of holidays—
for time to rest, to play, and to be with family and friends.
Thank You for the chance to slow down,
to notice Your beautiful world,
and to refresh our minds and hearts.
As we return from this time of rest, fill us with energy, joy, and new ideas.
Help us to carry the peace we’ve found into our work and learning,
and remind us always to be grateful for every moment of pause and renewal.
Amen.
Dear St Michael’s School families,
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
As we wrap up another busy term, we’d like to wish all our families a happy, safe, and restful holiday. This is a wonderful time to slow down, recharge, and enjoy the simple pleasures—whether that’s sharing special moments with loved ones, exploring the outdoors, or soaking up the beautiful sunshine.
We hope the break brings plenty of laughter, fresh air, and joyful memories for both parents and children. Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm throughout the term—it’s what makes our school community so vibrant and welcoming. We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and growth.
Please see our TheirCare News page for details on the holiday program available at St Michael's School.

ST MICHAEL'S MISSION STATEMENT
After many months of consultation, editing and finalising, the final version of the St Michael's School Mission Statement is now ready. This has gone through all levels of our community, including our School Advisory Council, the Student Representative Council and the Parish Pastoral Council. We're proud to have this final version ready for all community member, relaying our purpose and guiding us in our decisions.
BENDIGO BANK COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PROGRAM
Earlier this year St Michael's School submitted an application through Bendigo Bank's Community Investment Program to go towards our Literacy resources for the students. Over the past 18 months, we have been building up resources of decodable texts and class novel sets for our Prep - Yr 6 Literacy program. Many parents have donated cakes for our fortnightly raffles, the funds of which have also gone towards this library. Last week we were informed that Bendigo Bank will invest $2000 towards this resource at St Michael's, which will go a long way to building up our library. Elise Rimington and I will be attending a Funds Presentation event in early October to accept the grant.
CONGRATULATIONS ANNABELLE
We congratulate Annabelle Squire in qualifying for the 1500m event in the Boroondara and Whitehorse Division Track and Field event. Annabelle powered through last week's district 1500 metre event, leading the field with strength and determination. We congratulate her and wish her well at the Division event on 14th October.
KINDER KIDS FINAL SESSION
Last week we held our final Kinder Kids session for this year and it was wonderful to see so many incoming Prep children for 2026 present for this. Our Year Five students were amazing in their care, guidance and support of the Kinder Kids and I'm sure will make fabulous buddies when they are in Year Six next year. Thank you also to our Year Four students who made a delicious chocolate slice for everyone to share.
ST MICHAEL'S VEGETABLE GARDEN
Our final session in the garden this term saw the Prep classes planting lettuce and mint, which will be ready and delicious for the warmer weather coming. They also planted some more flowers in amongst the existing flowers in the planters to help brighten up the quadrangle for the Spring.
FATHERS / SPECIAL MALE FRIENDS BBQ
What a fantastic day we shared last Saturday as dads and special male friends came together for a BBQ, games, and plenty of laughter. The highlight was watching families tackle the obstacle course, where the children’s energy often left the adults scrambling to keep up! A big congratulations to everyone who joined in the fun, and a heartfelt thank you to the Ashy Redbacks for generously hosting such a memorable family event.
TWILIGHT SPORTS DATE TO BE CONFIRMED
As you will have noticed on the school calendar, we had originally booked Wednesday 12th November for our annual Twilight Sports day, where all students from Prep to Year Six engage in a range of sports and activities to earn points for their House Team. We have been informed that Warner Reserve will be undergoing works to their grounds between 1st November to 8th December which means it will be unavailable to us at the time we need. We are currently seeking out alternate locations for the 12th November or we may need to make a change to the date we have chosen. We will notify parents of the date and location as soon as possible.
MAJOR PFA FUNDRAISER
I invite all families to consider attending our MAJOR PFA fundraiser for this year, Woodstock social night. The members of the PFA have been working hard to put together a fun night for all of us to enjoy, while raising funds for our school. See the St Michael's PFA News page to read more about it and BOOK YOUR TICKET.
ADVANCED PSYCHOLOGY BLOG
St Michael's School has partnered with Advanced Psychology with a psychologist working onsite weekly. This link takes you to a blog with podcasts / webinars that deal with a variety of topics which might be of interest to parents and teachers.
