School Athletic Carnival

A very successful Athletic Carnival was held last Friday in fantastic weather at the Bill Rose Sports Complex in Scone. There were a large number of students competing on both the track and in field events. The level of competition was excellent with a number of records broken across a range of events and age groups. Results are currently being finalised with the girls high jump to be held next Thursday during sport on the school oval. An overview of results will be published in the next newsletter. Students were competing for selection to attend the Diocesan Athletic Carnival at Glendale on Wednesday 20 August. The first two places in each event, with the exception of the long jump, high jump and 1500m where qualifying distances, heights and times apply, will be selected. Students are to read both Compass notices and the sport noticeboard for further information.

Thank you to the parents who attended the carnival and supported the students.

Representative Sport

In the coming week we have Oliver P representing NSWCCC at the NSW All School Golf Championships at Dubbo. Ollie will be seeking selection in the NSW All Schools Golf team for the School Sport Australia Championships to be held in Queensland at the end of July.

Macey C will represent NSWCCC in the U18’s Girls Rugby 7’s team at the NSW All Schools Rugby Championships in Sydney. Macey is a dual NSWCCC Representative having gained selection in the NSWCCC Open Girls Touch team. This is an outstanding achievement that is well-deserved for this talented athlete. We wish both students very successful championships in their respective sports.

Rugby League

Last Wednesday our U14 and U16 girls and U13, U15 and Open boys played in Tamworth in the Greater Northern School Boys & Girls Trophy. All teams enjoyed a very competitive day with our Open Boys defeating Farrer Agricultural High School in the final. Both the Open Boys and Girls teams have now progressed to the finals of the competition.

Thank you to our coaches and managers – Mr Feeney, Mrs Smith , Mrs Eveleigh and Ms Watkins for the continuous support and organisation of the teams.
