Assembly Awards
Congratulations to Monique, Dharshith, Leruo and Eden for receiving their certificates at Thursday's assembly. These four wonderful students add to the fabric of our class (and our school) and they should be very proud of their efforts this semester. Well done!!
Last week the staff had a wonderful day of professional development, learning more about how kids learn differently and how learning tools can assist young people in regulating themselves and ensuring they are in the best space to learn. In the photo above, Eden shared with his colleagues in Show and Tell some of the things he likes to have in class for him to enjoy the space. Such wonderful young people we teach in 2025!
Year 1
Italian Spotlight:
In Italian the Grade 1 students, are exploring the magical world of Pinocchio. The students have listened to and engaged with the classic tale of the wooden puppet who dreamed of becoming a real boy. Through this captivating story, students are developing their listening comprehension, expanding their Italian vocabulary, and gaining a deeper cultural appreciation for this beloved Italian classic. They also enjoy interacting with each other by repeating well-known Italian expressions from the story, such as “Mamma mia,” and participating in creative, hands-on activities like making their own Pinocchio cut-outs. The students will be exploring greetings and introductions, learn the names of body parts, colours, and counting.
Year 2/3
Greetings Families,
It is just 14 days away until the school performance. The kids have been very busy rehearsing. But WE NEED YOUR HELP! Can you please help your kids to practice the song at home ‘We Love Lettuce’. I will add the lyrics below. We will be decorating capes next week and the children are encouraged to create a Vampire name. The names will be decorated on the capes next week. A big shout out to Cettina and her family for creating the capes. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Sincerely
Miss Thana von Frietag
Year 3/4
Over the last few weeks, students have been learning how to create graphs using Google sheets. They collected data about different things such as the highest temperature; birthdays, favourite games and subjects. They explored the different types of graphs, deciding on which graph displayed the data the best. They also learnt how to change colours in column and bar graphs.
Year 4/5
We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 4/5, filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration. The students have been actively engaged in their classroom learning, while also working hard in preparation for our upcoming school musical.
We’ve been busy practising our speaking parts, learning the choreography for our dances, and rehearsing the songs with great energy and enthusiasm. It’s been wonderful to see the students building confidence, supporting one another, and having fun as they bring the performance to life.
We’re so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to share their hard work with you soon!
Italian Spotlight - Describing Ourselves in Italian!
This term, our Grade 4/5 students have been working hard in Italian, building their vocabulary and learning how to talk about themselves using full sentences.
They are using:
- Adjectives to describe their appearance and personality
- Phrases to say their age, like "Ho dieci anni" (I am ten years old)
- Expressions of likes and dislikes, such as "Mi piace il gelato" (I like ice cream) and "Non mi piace la pioggia" (I don’t like the rain)
- Simple sentence structures to put all their ideas together in a paragraph
This activity encouraged the students to put everything they’ve learned into practice and show off their growing confidence with the language.
Year 5/6
This week, the Year 5/6 students have been rehearsing for our upcoming school production, 'We are Monsters', and what a fantastic time we’re having! On Monday, we had so much fun practicing with our Foundation buddies. Together, we sang songs from the show and practiced some of the fun dance moves. It was lovely to see the older students guiding and encouraging the younger ones, and the energy in the room was amazing. We can’t wait to keep building on this momentum as showtime approaches!
