Zeena

Meet Zeena: Mullum Primary’s Therapy Dog!

We’re so excited to welcome Zeena, Mullum Primary’s therapy dog, to our school! Zeena visits classrooms every Monday and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 9:45am to support students with activities like:

  • Calmly transitioning into the school day

  • Reading aloud to build confidence

  • Connecting through petting, talking, and giving trained commands

About Zeena:

Zeena is a whippet—a gentle, calm, and affectionate breed with a soft, low-shedding coat. She’s been specially trained through K9 Support alongside her handler, Pippa Thompson, a paediatric Allied Health assistant and final-year Occupational Therapy student.

Why Zeena?

Therapy dogs can help students to reduce stress and anxiety, support improvements in wellbeing, confidence, and social skills and also support classroom engagement.

What’s On:

  • Letters to Zeena: Students can write letters or draw pictures for Zeena. If they’d like a reply, they must include their name and grade.

  • Zeena’s Birthday Colouring Competition: One winner per year level! Each student can enter one colouring sheet. Entries close Wednesday 2nd July. Colouring sheets are available from your teacher.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted their permission on Compass. If you haven’t yet, please update your opt-in or opt-out as soon as possible. Families can opt out at any time by contacting the school office. We are so happy to have Zeena as part of our school community!
