TERM 3
What a busy start to term. We want to welcome all of our Encounter students and their families as they settle into school life in Australia. We also welcome two pre-servce teachers who are with us for four weeks, Lindsay in 3/4S and Jessica in 5/6Y. These are teachers in training and we hope they learn alot about how we operate at Mullum PS.
NAPLAN REPORTS
This week Student Reports for the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Grade 3 and 5 were sent home. These are Australia wide assessments and measures a students capabilities in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Mathematics. Assessments were conducted in March. The school's leadership team are busy unpacking the initial data sets that are available and will be sharing information with the community.
ENCOUNTER PROGRAM
We have 21 International students from China and Hong Kong visiting us for four weeks. Together with their Mullum Primary School student buddies they have commenced lessons in the classrooms and are looking forward to some special activities over the four weeks, including a visit to Healesville Sanctuary, cooking lessons, Athletic Sports event, and more. Here are a few early photos:
BOOT SCOOTIN NIGHT - TICKETS ARE ON SALE
Everyone is invited to the "Boot Scootin for Mullum" Night on Saturday 9 August. Students have been practicing their line-dancing skills. A professional line caller will take us through the steps and teach us how to do the dance moves. This event is set to get your feet tapping and everyone joining in on the fun. This is one of the major fundraising events on the Parents' Association calendar and we look forward to having our whole community there. Contact the office for tickets.
STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR
Rehearsals are in full swing for the State School Spectacular. Yesterday twenty, Grade 3-6, students headed to Melbourne Town Hall and joined 980 other students in the Mass Choir Rehearsal. Everything is on track for the two performances on Saturday 13 September at John Cain Arena. Yesterday in a sea of green and blue, I was very happy that our uniforms are red, the students really popped in the crowd! Thank you to Emma, Eima and Priscilla for coming along and helping us out.
