Junior School Council News
Hello Mullum! Welcome to our first Newsletter post! We will be providing the Mullum Community with regular updates about what we’re working on, so watch this space!
Term 2 Winter PJ Day Fundraiser
On the last day of Term 2, the JSC held a fundraiser asking students to wear their PJs to school. We raised $226! Thank you to everyone who contributed. The money we raised will be spent according to what Mullum students say is important to them. We will collect more ideas submitted to our Communication Station by Mullum students and look at what we can achieve!
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
The JSC would like to announce that Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open at Mullum!
The PRC aims to help young readers develop a lifelong love of reading and this year, the PRC is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the theme ‘20 years of words and wonder’! Since the PRC began in 2005, more than 4.5 million young readers have taken part and together read more than 63 million books!
We want Mullum students not to think of the PRC as a competition, but as a personal challenge for to read more books to reach the goal by the 5th of September! Classroom teachers will give students their login details, as well as a bookmark to keep!
Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 students are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Grades 3 to 6 are challenged to read 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers, with the top ten readers receiving a special pin!
Students can login with their details provided by their teachers to log their books here: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home
