🌟 Promoting Positive Behaviour in Our Primary School 🌟

Dear Families,

At Surfside Primary, fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment is a top priority. We know that positive behaviour is the foundation for effective learning, healthy relationships, and strong character development — both in and out of the classroom.

What is Positive Behaviour?

Positive behaviour is more than just "following the rules." It includes showing kindness, taking responsibility, cooperating with others, and making thoughtful choices. When students practice these behaviours, they contribute to a positive school culture where everyone can thrive.

Our Approach

We use a whole-school approach to promote and reinforce positive behaviour, including:

Clear Expectations – We teach and model expected behaviours in different settings (classroom, playground, lunch area).

🎯 Positive Reinforcement – Students are recognised and praised for showing respect, responsibility, and resilience.

🛠️ Supportive Guidance – When mistakes happen, we guide students to reflect, learn, and make better choices next time.

Working Together

Families play a key role in shaping behaviour. Here’s how you can support our shared goals at home:

  • Talk about school values – Reinforce respect, kindness, and responsibility in daily routines.
  • Celebrate effort and growth – Praise your child for showing positive behaviours, not just achievements.
  • Stay connected – Keep in touch with your child’s teacher about their progress and any concerns.

Together, we’re helping our students grow into confident, caring individuals who know how to make good choices. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.

We support inclusion in all it's forms at Surfside Primary School

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the country throughout Victoria and pay respect to the ongoing living cultures of First Peoples.
