Catholic Identity

Prayer to the Sacred Heart
Lord, we come before your Sacred Heart
To ask you for protection,
and to comfort the fears and uncertainties
we may encounter.
Give us the courage to continue,
and let us recognise that you are with us guiding us,
protecting us and holding us in your arms.
Our hearts await everything from you.
You keep encouraging us to look for You.
We trust in you, Sacred Heart.
Amen
Today is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, designated the Friday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost (Corpus Christi Sunday).
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a powerful symbol in Christianity, particularly within the Catholic tradition, representing Jesus Christ's divine love and compassion for humanity. It symbolizes the core of Christ's message: love for God and love for one's neighbor. The heart, as the seat of love, embodies the boundless and passionate love of Jesus for all people.
"The Son of God. . . loved me and gave himself for me" (Gal 2:20).

Mercy Award
Last week the Mercy award for ‘Acceptance’ was presented. Congratulations to all the recipients.
For the first three weeks of Term 3, the Mercy Award will be focussing on the quality of ‘Service’.
Sr Mary Austin was a Sister of Mercy and a very special person to the school community here at St Joseph's. She gave service to many people in need - visiting them, baking for them, and praying for them.
Some ways we can show SERVICE here at St Joseph's are:
- using helping hands, caring actions and kind words
- taking care of our environment (our common home)
- offering to do jobs for others
- being a good friend
- helping those in need when they need it most
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week 2025 will be celebrated from July 6th to 13th. The theme for 2025 is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision, and Legacy." This theme emphasizes the importance of celebrating the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and looking towards the future with their leadership and vision.
At St. Joseph’s, we will be acknowledging NAIDOC Week during the first week of school for Term 3.
