Principal's Message

Brock Wilson

That’s a wrap for Term 2!

Thank you to everyone in our community. I’ve really enjoyed seeing our parents, staff and students all working together towards the same goals of helping our little people become the best that they can be.

Positive Compass Notifications

If your phone has been dinging a few more times with push notifications from the school – you can blame me! A new initiative that we have introduced over the past fortnight is positive Compass messages sent by our staff directly to families. There are so many wonderful things that happen each day in our school, and I want to make sure our families are not just notified when things go wrong. When you receive one of these positive notifications, I encourage you to discuss it with your child and have them share what led to them being recognised. Your help with this will support us to build stronger and more positive connections in our children between home and school and it also helps us celebrate and validate positive behaviour and learning in our classrooms.

Student-Led Initiatives

Speaking of new initiatives, our student leaders have been busy putting together different proposals to improve our school. You would have likely heard about a popular one that they planned and led last week, which was the 3-6 Basketball Tournament. Across the week, these student leaders did a fantastic job fixturing, refereeing, and organising games. The winning teams from 3/4 and 5/6 got to compete in a friendly game against our staff this week, which was a lot of fun. I have begun receiving further proposals from our school leaders for new ideas they want to bring to life in Term 3, so watch this space moving forward!

Staffing Updates

There are a few staffing updates that I want to share with you all. Firstly, as announced to the families of SB last week, Jeorgia McManus will be leaving us at the end of Term 2. Jeorgia has been a wonderful member of our community, and we wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter of her life interstate. Thank you, Jeorgia. I can also formally announce that our long time Education Support staff member Andrea Hodge has formally retired from our school after working at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School for 24 years. Though Andrea has been on leave during 2025, we’d like to recognise the contribution she has made to our community over a long period of time. Thank you, Andrea.

2026 Foundation Enrolments

As I mentioned in our previous newsletter, we are already busy planning and preparing for 2026. If you know any little people due to start school in 2026, send them our way! We are currently holding regular tours for our new families, so reach out to our school office if you or someone you know needs anything to help get them ready to begin school next year!

That’s all from me for Term 2. We will see you all back for another busy term of learning on Monday the 21st of July – see you all then!
