Principal News

There is a great video of Steph Curry, one of the great shooters in the in NBA Basketball history, talking about his daily routine. He simply takes five shots from close up, then steps back and takes five more, then back and five more. He then does the same from different angles on the court, always starting with a close shot, then moving back.

This is so powerful and counter cultural right now.

His focus is the basics. His focus is repetition. His focus is practice.

This relates perfectly for learning. It doesn't mean that our students should be practising their time tables for hours on end, but doing 5 minutes of practice would be really powerful. It becomes really powerful with three more steps:

  • Feedback (Timely- immediate)
  • Goal (Short Term)
  • Success

The best outcome that students establish these goals and they are very achievable. The other core priority is that the students experience success. Motivation comes from being successful, from achieving something.

As we come through reporting season, it is important to recognise that we must prioritise the small steps towards improvement, praise the effort and the growth and celebrate the achievements when they come.

Feast Of Sacred Heart

Tomorrow is a special day in the Church. It is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. It is a solemn feast in the Catholic Faith, celebrated by what is commonly known as ‘The Poor Mans Mass’. It is to signify the Jesus heart reaches out to all, but particularly to those on the Margins. Catholic Social Teaching Principles refer to the Dignity of the Human Person and Preferential Option for the Poor.

On our Final day, our leaders want to have a Pyjama Day. On this day, we will raise money for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. This is an example of us reaching out to those in need. This will be a student led event. A letter will be coming home with more detail, but all students can wear pyjamas, or comfortable casual clothes. After recess, classes will have a movie and be able to celebrate the end of term with Popcorn and a Hot (warm) Chocolate.

End Of Term

A reminder that the end of our term will be on the 4th of July. (Friday week). We will finish at 1pm. After school care will run from 1pm for those registered.

ESafety

Its been interesting to have a discussion with some of our studentsabout devices. On average, it seems that our students are averaging up to 10 hours a day on weekends on devices. I would strongly recommend the esafety.gov.au site to develop some protocols around the home that limits device use. My two children use them (they're probably too young) but teaching limits while their young is so important, as once they are older it becomes hard to enforce.

Beleza Uniform Shop

I was so saddened to hear the news of our uniform shop, Beleza, burning down this morning. I have messaged their team sending our thoughts, as this provides great challenges to their business and staff.  We will be patient and work with our families ensuring that this does not impact any student. We have some second hand and jackets available, so if you need help, please come see us. We will advise you as to when the stock levels come back.

Dear School Community,

Information Regarding Fire at Hallam Retail and Warehouse Location

Last night, there was unfortunately a significant fire at our retail and warehouse location at151-159 Princes Hwy, Hallam. As a result, we have lost a substantial amount of stock that was kept on-site, and will not be able to operate out of the retail space. As this is very recent, we are still responding to the situation and working out the best approaches to ensure we can replenish the lost stock as quickly as we can. We will of course be endeavouring to resume retail operations as soon as possible, however at this stage we do not know what that will look like. We will provide updates on the situation as soon as we know more. This will have the most noticeable impact on the schools that we sell for in our Hallam store, however as it is one of our primary warehousing locations as well, the loss of stock will impact all schools to a degree. We know that this is not an ideal situation, however we ask for your patience and understanding for any delays or stock shortages that result from this unprecedented situation. It is not a situation that can be prepared for in advance, but we will respond as thoroughly and as quickly as we can to each stock shortage. For any families who need to purchase for an impacted school, our online store is still available at www.beleza.com.au/online-store/. We will be fulfilling orders as quickly as possible, however with the combination of pre-existing School Saving Bonus orders and the stock shortages resulting from this fire, please be advised that there may be significant wait times due to processing and production requirements. We don’t have any additional information at this stage, but will provide further updates as soon as we know more. We’d like to thank you for your patience at this time. If you have any urgent enquiries, please call us at (03) 9702 3218 or email us atbeleza@beleza.com.au and we will assist as best we can.

Kind regards,Beleza School Uniforms
