Principal Post

Dear Families,

Thank you to all families for your support across a busy term at SJV. What a wonderful Semester we have had for all of our students especially our Foundation students, who will be celebrating their 100 days of school on Wednesday 30th of July. So much has occurred and we appreciate partnering with you to support your children. I am sure that after 11 weeks of school life we are all ready to rest and

re-energise.  I trust that the next fortnight will enable everyone to spend some valuable time together with family and friends.

I hope that the Parent Teacher Interviews which began yesterday and will continue this afternoon have been a good springboard for  discussion around the Semester reports, social skills, effort and behavior.

My thanks to all the staff for their tireless efforts their professionalism and care across the term.  On behalf of the community we wish Bec Chan every blessing as she moves into MACS as a Literacy partner. Bec will be working with several schools and she will no doubt continue to have connection with SJV! Go well Bec!

GEM Awards

Congratulations to Aria 0L and Joanna 12M  who were nominated by others and have won empathy awards for always being a good friend and showing empathy to others who need help.  As we often say 'Choose Kindness'!  Well done girls!

Modelled Reading

The modelled reading program continues next week, and will commence for term 3 on Tuesday 22nd July. Many thanks to parents who volunteered to help this term.

Grandparents Day

We will be celebrating Grandparents Day on Friday 25th July.  First Friday of Term 2.

5/6N will be hosting their class Mass on this day and we invite the grandparents of 5/6N students to attend the Mass.  Other grandparents may attend the Mass but due  to limited seating in the church, it is unlikely that we will be able to seat all grandparents. We are aware some may not be able to attend on the day or for the Mass.  Grandparents can also join us for a celebratory morning tea in the Performing Arts Area at 10am and classroom activities to follow. We sent home an NPortal notice asking for numbers attending on the day. This will assist us with catering and organisation.

Likely schedule for the Grandparents morning:

9.00am School Mass

10.00am Grandparents and 5-6 N to the Performing Arts for Morning Tea and Blessing. 10.00am Students to have an early recess

10:40am Grandparents to go to a class area and meet grandchildren (family groups) for an activity.

11:30am approx - Activity and Grandparents activity concludes.

Term 3 Punctuality...

Students -Be on time!!!

As we begin the new term, we want to make it very clear that all students are expected to arrive at school on time. The roll is marked strictly at 8:45am, and any student who arrives after this time will be marked as LATE

Regular lateness disrupts the class and affects not only your child’s learning but also that of others. It is essential that families make every

effort to ensure students are at school before the bell. Punctuality is not optional—it is a basic expectation.

Extended Leave / Holidays

Just a reminder, if you are planning for your child to be away for 5 or more days in Term time  you must complete the following Extended Period of Absence Form and hand in to the office. This form is also available on our website and in hard copy from the office.

Please note that your child will miss out on learning of concepts taught in school whilst away. As parents you are encouraged to find Literacy & Numeracy activities to keep your child learning particularly if you are away for an extended period of time. Whilst teachers can assist you with ideas it is not the teacher's role to source worksheets etc.

Updating your Details

If your details have recently changed.

For example - Home address, email address or Phone number.

Please contact the office via email, phone or in person ASAP to update.

V PASS UPDATE

Late arrival / Early Departure signing in & out process

You can now sign your child in as a Late Arrival or an Early Departure Via the Ipad at the front office.

This can be done by tapping the “Graduation Hat” icon on the kiosk home page… or using the Select Visitor Type > Student Attendance Option.

Next, the parent does a search for their child’s name and completes the steps on screen.

The student can get a Late Pass and head to class, or leave with their parent/carer.
