đ Prep Athletics â Week 2 in PE
In our second week of Prep Athletics, students will continue developing their skills with a focus on sprinting and the fundamental techniques of running races.

đââď¸Â Year 1 & 2 Athletics â Week 2 in PE
This week, our Year 1 & 2 students will dive into the exciting world of Long Jump! Theyâll learn the proper technique for take-off and landing, with plenty of fun practice using the sand pit.
Alongside long jump, students will also take part in other athletic events like sprinting and foam javelinâfurther developing their coordination, confidence, and love for physical activity in a supportive environment.

đââď¸Â Grade 3 & 4 Athletics â Week 2 in PE
This week, our Year 3 and 4 students will explore three exciting Athletics events: Long Jump, Shot Put, and Discus.
With the use of safe, age-appropriate equipment, theyâll be introduced to the basic techniques for each event while focusing on building coordination, confidence, and teamwork.
The activities are designed to be inclusive and engaging, encouraging every student to develop their movement skills and enjoy new challenges in a supportive environment.
Weâre excited for another week of energetic learning and athletic fun!

đ Â Year 5 & 6 Athletics Unit â Parent PreviewThis week in PE, our Year 5 and 6 students will continue their Athletics unit focused on three key field events: Discus, Shot Put, and Long Jump.
Throughout the unit, students will:
Weâll be using modified, age-appropriate equipment to ensure safety while giving students an authentic and engaging experience.
This unit also serves as great preparation for upcoming school athletics carnivals and encourages students to explore new skills in a positive, supportive environment.

Art Club
This week Grade 5/6 students had the opportunity to experiment with paint, chalk pastels and mandala stencils. Well done Art captains on facilitating another great Art Club lesson!

Coming up in the Art room...
Prep
Students will be finishing their 3D caterpillar made from stuffing, stockings and pipecleaners. The will hang them up around the Art room in their âchrysalisâ before painting some symmetrical butterfly wings. Â

Grade 1
Students will be continuing to look at Australian artist Anna Blatman and her âPeabodyâ bird artwork. They will cut and collage their painted papers into organic shapes and arrange them on their bird.Â

Grade 2
Students will be continuing their stitched bird artwork, adding details to the bird and its surroundings. They will also be adding flowers to their koala artwork, being inspired by those that are indigenous to the Manningham area.

Grade 3/4Â
Students will be continuing to work on their Howard Arkley inspired house facade, adding oil pastel texture rubbings and ink painting over the top.

Grade 5
Students will continue to work on their Snowy River birds eye view artwork. They will emboss their design onto tin before adding paint pen details.

Grade 6
Students will be starting a new artwork inspired by Joan Blond and her abstract expressionism work. They will complete the first layer of organic colour shapes for the background before adding nature inspired patterns over the top.

Prep
Students will explore rhythm using the names of fruits to help compose and perform simple patterns. Theyâll also begin learning one of the songs theyâll perform in Matilda Jr., bringing excitement to our upcoming rehearsals.

Grade 1
Students will continue their exploration of music and dance from around the world. Theyâll experience a range of styles and traditions, deepening their appreciation for cultural diversity through rhythm, movement, and sound.

Grade 2
Students will investigate how different ways of playing an instrument affect the sound it produces. Theyâll also begin designing and creating their own instruments using a variety of materials- combining creativity with musical thinking.

Grade 3/4
Students will be learning and rehearsing their Matilda Jr. songs, focusing on melody, lyrics and how their part fits with other singers. If time allows, theyâll also revisit the feel of calypso music, using movement and rhythm to explore its vibrant character.

Grade 5/6
In between rehearsals for their Matilda Jr. songs, students will be putting the finishing touches on their songwriting projects. They will be finalising and recording their original songs and ensuring all the elementsâlyrics, chords, and structureâfit together on a track.Â
Prep
Prep students will continue to learn the signs for farm animals through singing and signing âOld Mac Donald.â They will also practise signing a simple sentence beginning with âI seeâŚâ For example âI see two cows.â

Grade 1 and 2
Grade 1 and 2 students will continue to consolidate their knowledge of the alphabet and application of fingerspelling through playing various games including âAlphabet Bingoâ and âGo Fish.â

Grade 3 and 4
Grade 3 and 4 students will continue to consolidate their knowledge and application of how to use pronouns and adjectives in Auslan by creating a âWhat Is It?â presentation for a partner.

Grade 5 and 6
Students will be using facial expression, fingerspelling, and appropriate signs to clearly communicate a short message to a friend, buddy or teacher. They will use SignBank to help develop their sign vocabulary.
