📚 Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics

Grade One's will be learning about 'ing' and learning about open and closed syllables.

📖✏️Literacy
Mentor Text: Don't Trust Fish by Neil Sharpson
This story is funny and engaging picture book that has links to real facts and information. Students will be engaging in vocabulary by completing tasks around sorting, unjumbling sentences and word building.
What can you do at home?
-Nessy is a great resource to use to supplement your child's reading in a fun engaging way on their iPad
-Ask comprehension questions about your child's take home book or a book you read together
➕Maths
This week we will be revisiting place value where we are revisiting addition and subtraction strategies that we have learnt this term.
What can you do at home?
-Add and subtract in everyday life for example: we had 12 muffins and ate 4 how many are left?
-Engage with mathseeds (Grade One) or mathletics (Grade Two)
🌏 CBL - Diversity
Our Grade 1/2s loved our CBL rotations where they learnt about many celebrations around the world. This week, we will be comparing the celebrations we learnt about and recognising similarities and differences.
