Act for Peace Ration Challenge

As part of Refugee Week there are more than 50 students and staff at the College participating in the Ration Challenge this week. This is a great number considering it is our first year participating. Hopefully, it will grow even more next year.

This is another opportunity in empathy for students, to experience a small part of life for refugees in Jordan for just three days through food rations. This will not be easy, but it will hopefully engage students enough to develop deeper compassion and understanding so they may use their gifts for good going into the rest of their lives.

At this stage, our commitment to the challenge is simply around experience, no fundraising. But this doesn’t stop people contributing in their own time and space, given the deeper understanding developed.

Adults are also encouraged to get involved. If you want to know more you can visit Act for Peace Schools Ration Challenge. While it talks about school action, it shows you the rations thus enabling anyone to organise their own food and try it for the three days.

No doubt all who committed to the Ration Challenge at the school will be fulfilling it authentically and with integrity. Thanks to Mrs Fogliani and Mr Herro for implementing it at St Patrick’s College.

Good luck to all involved.
