As part of our learning about Light, we looked at materials that were transparent, translucent and opaque. After this introductory sorting task, students worked in pairs to explore the school photographing examples of each of these. Armed with iPads, we explored the kitchen, classroom, library and playground. It was amazing to see the eagle eyed selections found and recorded.

In Year 3/4, students experienced the reaction between oils and water by using marbling inks. Each student, was given the opportunity to explore the process of marbling and revel in the anticipation of the created designs. The enjoyment and enthusiasm was wonderful to see.  We discussed what was happening between the two solutions and examined why this occurred and other real life examples.

We looked as Shape in connection to the Elements of Art projects. This week we used geometric shapes to create images and designs. In Foundation, students used large and small sized shapes to create pictures individually or with partners. In Year 1/2, students created collage abstract or realistic pictures using organic and geometric shapes. In 3/4 we used protractors, triangles, 'math mats' and shapes to record images and designs.

Year 5/6 students, continued to complete still life paintings. These pieces are being completed with great care and attention to detail. Well done, everyone.
