Values and Character Strengths

Our last curriculum day with Berry Street focused on character. As part of this work, we looked at how we can use our character strengths to live by our values.

Students in Years 3-6 completed a questionnaire to determine what their top character strengths are. Over the next few weeks, we'll look at how we can use those strengths to live by our values. If you'd like a copy of your child's results, please let Mr Shuttleworth know.

Raffle Tickets

Four weeks ago, our staff started handing out raffle tickets to students in the yard who were following our school values and expectations. Our focus for those four weeks was:

  • We agree on and follow game rules
  • We play fairly and follow the game rules
  • We make the games fun and fair by following the rules

At yesterday's assembly, we pulled out one raffle ticket from over 100 that were given out. (I was going to type in the names of all of the students who received a raffle ticket during this time, but one helpful staff member cleaned off the names from the raffle tickets before I had a chance to write them down). A huge congratulations to Lyndon Franc whose raffle ticket was pulled out. His class will now get a one-hour reward of a game or a movie.

Our focus for the next two weeks is:

  • We use equipment for its intended purpose
  • We leave all play areas as soon as the music goes
  • We put rubbish in the correct bin

At our next assembly, we'll pull out one winner from all of the raffle tickets given out in the next two weeks.
