We’ve Got You Covered!

Thank you for the generosity of those parents who have collected book ‘cover’ boxes from reception. The newly covered books have found their way back on the shelves ready for students to loan. Every parent is welcome to pick up a box and help cover our growing collection of books in our school library.

Please email Niamh in the library at 7566-library@schools.vic.edu.au to organise your box for pick up. Much appreciated!

New Books!

Have you ever felt like no one truly sees the real you? Melody Brooke has. In ‘Out of My Mind’ Melody, an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has a mind bursting with thoughts and opinions, it’s just that the world does not know how to listen. Melody has a photographic memory but feels isolated and frustrated until she receives a communication device that gives her a voice.

This inspiring book is targeted at junior high school students and really helps to start a conversation about how you treat people who seem ‘different.’

Sharon M Draper’s sequel Out of My Heart has Melody return. Now 12-years old and with more independence Melody has a chance to go on her first overnight camp away from home. This book explores courage, pushing limits, and finding people who accept you just the way you are.

This book is perfect for those students who have enjoyed reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio or Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.

New editions of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams have arrived in our library. This hilarious science fiction series follows the misadventures of Arthur Dent, an Englishman, who is suddenly swept off Earth just before it’s destroyed to make way for a galactical freeway. Throughout the series the story pokes fun at science and life itself in a constant search for meaning.
