Winter in Uraidla!

Students enjoyed playing with and sliding through the heavy frost last week. We love the fact that we really feel all of the seasons here at Uraidla Primary.

Thank you!

Thanks to the Parents and Friends for their generous donation to go towards footsteps program. The continuous generosity of our parents and Friends gives our students more opportunities to be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities.

Terrific Kids

Congratulations to our recipients Lilly and Lucy for terrific kid awards this term.

This term, the winner of the Terrific Kid award goes to a student who is a wonderful role model to her peers and a respectful member of our class. She is thoughtful and polite in her interactions with others. Every day she consistently demonstrates inclusivity, honesty, and reliability. She is socially responsible, respectful to class and school property. She responds to questions and participates in conversations in a kind and considered manner.

She demonstrates enthusiasm for her learning, pays careful attention to detail, and actively seeks clarification when she is unsure. She regularly uses her initiative to help others. She is naturally inquisitive about the world around her and enjoys connecting with others on a wide range of interests. She is flexible with change, capable when faced with any challenge, and is consistently proactive in ensuring she has a positive day.

This student often reflects on the positive aspects of her day during “What Went Well,” as being ‘everything.’ She brings a terrific attitude towards every day, which is a truly admirable quality.

All of us at Uraidla Primary School think that Lucy Page is a Terrific Kid. Well done Lucy!

This term, the winner of the Terrific Kid award goes to a student that starts each day with a smile and a positive, excited attitude for everything that lies ahead. They are friendly and welcoming to everyone, making others feel included, valued and supported. Whether it's learning something new, taking on a challenge or joining in a special opportunity, this student gives everything a go with enthusiasm and determination. They are a wonderful friend and classmate who brings warmth, kindness and joy to our classroom every day.

One of this student's greatest strengths is their willingness to admit when they don't know something and ask questions to deepen their understanding. They approach learning with openness and courage, taking risks, trying new things and embracing challenges even when things are hard. This growth mindset, combined with their positive attitude, has helped them make excellent progress and will continue to support them as a lifelong learner.

This student is dedicated to learning across all subject areas and shows curiosity and persistence towards new ideas and concepts. Their thoughtful contributions enrich class discussions, and their willingness to participate in opportunities such as Readers Cup reflects their commitment to learning and growth. This student embodies our school values through their kindness, positivity, courage and genuine care for others. All of us at Uraidla Primary School think Lilly Reeves is a terrific kid! Congratulations on winning this award Lilly!

Pedal Prix

On Friday, 19th June, six students participated in the Primary Schools Pedal Prix Race at Victoria Park. The students raced continuously for six hours on the 1.2 km track around the racecourse. The team demonstrated great sportsmanship and remained positive all day. They managed to stay dry for most of the event but were caught by rain in the final thirty minutes, which was especially challenging given our open vehicle.

A big thank you to Mignon Johansen and Emily Kiessling for preparing the team and providing our students with this valuable opportunity.

This is our second year participating in the Pedal Prix, and we are looking to grow the program at Uraidla Primary School. Unfortunately, our current vehicle is nearly twenty years old and requires substantial work. Along with others, I am seeking sponsorship from the local community to help us involve more students. We are looking to purchase a new vehicle, which costs around $10,000. If you or anyone you know is able to support us financially or provide prizes that we could raffle, it would be greatly appreciated and would help our program grow.

Hats

Just a reminder that as part of our Sun Smart policy, students are required to wear hats during term 3. We hope this reminder is helpful in sourcing students hats over the holidays. If you're unable to locate your child's hat, they are able to be purchased from the front office for $12.

Pick up after school

We have had an increase in younger students walking out of school at the end of the day without an adult. Please make sure that children are picked up from the yard as the oval is extremely busy after school and need to make sure all students are safe. If students are walking to the netball courts with someone else, can you please inform the staff member on duty.

We hope everyone has a fantastic break and we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday the 20th July.
