Message from the Principal
This week has been a powerful reflection of what our Balmoral community can achieve when we work together with purpose, compassion, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Our student leaders demonstrated outstanding initiative in raising awareness for men’s mental health, beginning with the creative idea to “soak a teacher,” which evolved into a highly engaging event where the top three teachers who raised the most funds were “dunked.” Supported by the generosity of both students and staff, this initiative raised an impressive $570 for the Black Dog Institute.
This was further strengthened by our free dress day, where students wore black or orange and contributed a gold coin donation. Together, these efforts brought the total raised to $876. This is a wonderful achievement, and our students should feel extremely proud of the impact they have made in fundraising and raising awareness for such an important cause. I would also like to acknowledge Oliver Year 12 leader who through his own fundraising has raised over $1,000 alone for this incredible cause.
Importantly, this week has also provided an opportunity to reinforce a key message that underpins our school: every student plays a vital role in shaping our learning culture. At Balmoral, we are proud of the environment we are building is grounded in respect, belonging, and personal excellence, a school where every student feels safe, supported, and able to learn.
We have been working closely with students to emphasise that the strength of this culture relies on the everyday choices they make. Positive contributions are not only seen in leadership and service, such as this week’s fundraising efforts, but also in how students treat one another, how they respond in challenging situations, and how they act as members of our community.
We have also taken the opportunity to reinforce with students the importance of supporting one another, particularly our newer students, in understanding and embracing Balmoral’s learning culture and expectations. Building a shared understanding of respectful behaviour, inclusion, and positive engagement helps ensure that every student feels welcomed, confident, and ready to learn.
Students have been encouraged to continue contributing positively to our environment through their everyday actions, making thoughtful choices, and offering support to their peers. These small but important actions strengthen our collective culture and ensure that all students feel a genuine sense of belonging.
We value our ongoing partnership with families in reinforcing these expectations and celebrating the positive contributions our students make each day. By working together, we continue to build a supportive and inclusive community where every student can thrive across all areas academically, socially, and emotionally.
Thank you for your continued support.
