Advanced English Students Explore Sydney Learning Opportunities
Recently, eight Advanced English students from Glen Innes High School travelled to Sydney to participate in a range of enriching learning experiences. The group included three Year 12 students and five Year 11 students, who embraced every opportunity to extend their understanding of literature, language and critical thinking.
The excursion began with a visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where students engaged in the analysis of visual texts. This experience supported the development of visual literacy skills, encouraging students to consider how meaning is created through artistic techniques, symbolism and perspective.
Students also enjoyed a guided tour of the New South Wales Parliament. A highlight of the visit was participating in role-play activities within both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council chambers, providing valuable insight into the workings of parliamentary democracy and the processes involved in law-making.
The group then attended a symposium focused on Shakespeare's Richard III, gaining deeper understanding of the play's themes, characters and enduring relevance. This was complemented by a workshop at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), where students explored the effective use of voice in performance and communication.
Throughout the excursion, our students represented Glen Innes High School with distinction. Their enthusiasm, maturity and engagement were noted by presenters and staff at each venue. They were a pleasure to accompany and served as outstanding ambassadors for our school.
We thank the students for their commitment to learning and look forward to seeing how these experiences enrich their future studies.

Student comments:
Through this trip, I have developed a much deeper appreciation for Australia's history, literature and the arts. By visiting Parliament House, attending the Richard III and NIDA workshops, and exploring the different art galleries I have been able to learn more interactively and make real-world connections to my studies in the classroom.

Stage 5 Agriculture
Inverell Beef Tour
On Tuesday the 16th of June, a small group of stage 5 Agriculture students travelled to Inverell on the next part of the Beef Industry Tour.
The day started with a visit to the Inverell Cattle Sales, where students observed the auction process. They then went out to 3D Genetics, where Joe Grose was generous enough to give us a tour of his impressive Wagyu beef property.
Students learnt about, and saw first hand, the importance of genetic selection and lots of different technology and expertise being used to maximise production efficiency and meet sustainability goals.
Huge thank you to Inverell Saleyards for allowing us to visit, and to Joe Grose for giving us so much of his time to share his knowledge and experience.
